Fa Poonvoralak's CV

Vichien Poonvoralak

Born 16 May 1953, Bangkok, Thailand

1972:
Published first book of poetry: Canto #1

1973:
published second book of poetry: "A fetus in The Womb is Crying"
published third book of poetry: "Change"

From this period on he began to apply himself to conceptual works. The first three books were written as ordinary books.

1974:
published fourth book of poetry: "An Exhibition of an Artist"
published fifth book of poetry: "An Exhibition of an Idiot"

From there on he came to a period of full conceptual works. Some appeared in the form of books, some appeared in various materials and in differing forms.

1975:
"No Sir"
"The Communist Poems"

1976:
"Rocks"
"Plastics"
"Neurology"

1977:
"The Fundamental Poem of the Fourth Dimension"
"The First Experiment in Dimensions"

1978:
"The Second Experiment in Dimensions"
"The Third Experiment in Dimensions"

At this point he rested for 10 years. All the above are written in Thai and are only known by a small group. As an artist he is only known to a small minority.

From 1982 to 1987 he lived in England, and did his first degree in Mathematics at the University of Warwick until his final year. Dissatisfied, he withdrew from the school and returned to Thailand in 1987.

1988:
"Eight Books of Poetry by Vichien Poonvoralak"
"Homework four"
"Homework Five"
"A Book of Thought"
"Poem Zero"
"Poem One"
I am Eight Persons"
"Constant One"
"Constant Two"

The above works are mature conceptual works. He produced more than 20,000 copies of them and gave them to people, mostly unknown to himself. In 1989 he decided to write an ordinary book.

1989:
A Book of Ordinary Writings

"For this book, I am publishing 25,000 copies and have chosen a whole set as my target. I am posting them to al lthe publishers in the USA, from the alphabet a to z, including numerous unlikely candidates, to create a complete field which, although is simple and always stands in front of us , usualy escapes from our touch by our own cleverness and selection.

the operation is itself as important as the writings, and should be considered as an integral part of my work. It would be nice if there were an offer from a publisher. but it is still fine if there is none; becuase the operation is complete."

1990:
Another Diary
A New Diary
A Model of Functional Art
